Arai introduces the special edition Quantum ”Flag Japan” design – available later this year. This special Quantum design is based on the popular “Flag” design series.
BELL STAR – INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
I tend to go through a lot of helmets. Mainly because I crash them. My last helmet was an Arai XD-7. Which took care of my ‘brain-housing-group’ during my get-off on my DR650. She took a good knock on the rear. The fancy visor didn’t fair so well, and the left side screw housing snapped off. So the visor, when up, would snap shut if I’d hit a bump. Pain in the ass. It was (by far) the most expensive helmet I’ve ever owned. Around $500 dollars at the time of purchase. Do to being under the trance of Ewan and Charlie and their “Long Way Round” adventures helped soften the blow mentally while draining my wallet for the lid. You could ‘feel’ the quality when you put it on. It was then I became somewhat of a helmet snob. No more HJC or Scorpion helmets for me thank you. (I’ve owned many and they’re great affordable helmets.) But I wanted the head-hug feeling that a premium helmet gives. It’s something that you’re going to have mounted on your skull every day. Often for hours and hours at a time. Through sunshine and rain. Hot and cold. Plus the whole, keeping your brains and face intact in the event of the inevitable. I ‘skimp’ on a lot of things. A helmet was no longer going to be one of them.
